Sr. Engineer

Responsible for preparing designs, plans and specifications, cost estimates for construction work, and documents as well as overseeing/project-managing capital projects from the start to finish to provide electric service to new and existing customers.

Primary Functions:

• Design electrical layouts for residential and commercial services;
• Manage developer projects from developmental stage until the project is completed;
• Resolve conflicts by communicating with customer and other entities;
• Estimate projects using EnterpriseOne Project Estimating Tracking System (ePETS);
• Analyze civil and electrical plans pertaining to the developer’s project;
• Prepare specification documents/permits for the developer;
• Develop and review new technologies/software which help benefit the efficiencies of the department;
• Train new engineers on software and design guidelines;
• Travel to sites and ensure compliance (Around 50% travel, company car provided)

Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of  five years of Electrical Engineering experience
• Five years as a Project Engineer (preferred)
• Valid Driver’s license

Technical Requirements:

• Working knowledge of all, but not limited to, the following
  • Constructions Standards Manuals (Overhead and Underground);
  • Voltage Distribution Levels: (15KV-35 KV)
  • Electric Service and Digital Meter Installation Knowledge
  • Riser Diagrams;
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Maps;
  • Permits by local governing agencies;

• Familiarity with all, but not limited to, the following:
  • National Electric Code (NEC)/National Electric Safety Code (NESC) books;
  • Civil drawings;
  • Estimate Reports;
  • Software applications (i.e. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, ePETS, AutoCAD, PSERM, CC&B, Arc-Reader, ARM360);

• Understand the limitations of construction crews abilities with regard to equipment/manpower;

• Calculate amperage on both sides of meter for wiring/xfmr sizing, voltage drop, and fault current;
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).
