Job Description

  • Manage the Direct Material - Item Master Data team, allocating resources, prioritizing initiatives, and aligning conflicting needs to ensure data quality and availability for internal and external users.
  • Guide and mentor a team of master data professionals, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation. 
  • Define the direct material master data strategy, roadmap for implementation, and execution of direct material projects, ensuring resource optimization, timely delivery, and alignment with organizational goals and objectives,
  • Establish Direct Material Data Governance Framework: Design and implement a robust data governance framework in coordination with engineering, supply chain, finance IT, data users and internal / external data customers.
  • Map processes, define data ownership, stewardship, and accountability ensuring adherence to data standards, policies, and procedures to maintain data integrity and consistency, recommends innovative solutions to resolve issues or promote efficiencies.
  • Support engineering teams in creation, set up and maintenance of all direct materials master data for all the lifecycle of the product and items. Innovate and refine item data structure and architecture – within business constraints - ensuring they align with business objectives and deliver measurable value. 
  • Collaborates with engineering in development, set up and maintenance of accurate BOM items and master data through the analysis of item attributes and supports the team on the compliance and data processes.
  • Develops, implements and support processes to ensure deduplication of items across multiple plants and enforce processes to restrict creation of duplicates.
  • Develop and implement data quality metrics, processes, and controls, creating and maintaining processes to monitor and improve data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Identify root causes of data quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Supports engineering and product teams in their specific data and documents management requirements, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with engineering, IT, finance, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless data integration and migration of direct material master data across systems and platforms. Define data documentation strategies, standards, and best practices to enable effective data sharing, version control and maintenance through complete product life cycle.
  • Lead direct material analysis and development initiatives to address critical business challenges. Utilize internal systems (new and legacy) and statistical tools to derive insights and inform strategic decisions. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance item master data processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Identify and develop approaches to mitigate risks associated with data quality, data governance, and data management processes.
  • Enforce strict data security and compliance standards to protect company data. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, engineering, or a related field- required.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in master data management, data governance, or data management roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity (preferred)
  • Experience in managing maintenance and creation of item in a large ERP and complex IT landscape.
  • Experience in large scale ERP implementation preferred.
  • Familiarity with data quality management, data integration, and data migration strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with manufacturing industry, configurable products (strongly preferred) or building products (preferred)
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, but also able to work independently.
  • Proven track record of successfully building high performance team responsible for organizing, consolidating, and cleansing organizational master data.
  • Demonstrated leadership in, with the ability to tackle complex, ambiguous data-related challenges and drive strategic business outcomes. 
  • Robust project and program management expertise, capable of orchestrating multiple initiatives, managing resources, and adhering to stringent deadlines. 
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
