Job Description

***RELOCATION ASSISTANCE TO TAMPA, FL AVAILABLE***

Chromalloy is searching for a process metallurgist for a Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) foundry.  Work scope focuses on project management for product & process optimization.

Essential Duties / Tasks

  • Become familiar with all VIM operations, equipment, and melting practices
  • Process & product improvement
    • Evaluate alternative & non-traditional methods for productivity improvement, product quality improvement, and/or cost reduction
    • Evaluate statistical and trend analysis of data to establish statistical process control for best practices
  • Perform time studies for work standards
  • Perform capacity studies
  • Create cost models
  • Quality
    • Create and maintain quality system documentation
    • Disposition product
    • Provide root cause analysis and sustainable solutions to quality issues
  • Interpret chemistry results and conduct alloy chemistry calculations
  • Candidate must be a self-starter able to work in a dynamic team environment

 

  • Safety
    • Identify & eliminate safety hazards
    • Improve ergonomics of repetitive tasks
    • Reduce dust & debris in operator working areas

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Metallurgy or Materials Science
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Work authorization sponsorship is not available for this position
