Job Description

The Planning Leader will lead planning activities for a Chromalloy facility or facilities. The role will be primarily responsible to lead the division’s Sales, Inventory, Operations, and Planning process (SIOP) inclusive of leading demand forecasting and the alignment of capacity to that demand in support of the division’s financial plan.

Reporting to the Site Leader, this is a critical staff role that has broad authority to drive connectivity with customers, the company’s strategic business units, and the division’s leadership team in order to align demand and operational capabilities against the financial plan.  

The role also has a responsibility to participate in Chromalloy’s initiative to mature the company’s operational planning processes with an emphasis on improvements in customer service, financial performance and employee satisfaction.  

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  The duties and responsibilities regularly performed for this position are:

  

  • Ownership of the demand forecast for the division
    • Coordinate with and negotiate demand and output forecasts with Strategic Business Unit, Customer Service, and Operations POC's
    • Develop division sales a forecast considering mix, volume and pricing impacts
    • Develop and own the division’s annual sales budget
    • Provide the primary forecast interface with large house accounts
    • Develop analytical models and tools that will support forecast development on an extended horizon
    • Providing analytical support on demand that supports high degrees of forecast accuracy over the forecast period, establish KPI’s for forecast accuracy
  • Own and Facilitate a disciplined divisional SIOP process
    • Work with the Plant Manager to ensure that capacity is aligned with projected demand.
      • Capacity models are tied to demand and productivity
      • Inventory planning ties to customer service and working capital targets.  
      • Yield Improvement initiatives are factored into demand and capacity models.  
      • Supplier capacity and risk management is factored into SIOP models
    • Work with Finance to ensure that variances to the division's financial plan are identified and discussed throughout the SIOP process.
  • Support the SBU’s QMI process with divisional market intelligence and pursuit information

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • 5-10 years experience in a vertically integrated manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or automotive.
  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, finance or supply chain
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, forecasting, and analyzing OEM and aftermarket demand.
  • Experience in dealing directly with external customers to acquire and analyze forecast data
  • Prior experience leading a SIOP or S&OP process for an operating unit
  • Experience in working through a matrixed organization to pull forecast data into the SIOP process.
  • APICS CPIM or equivalent coursework
  • Lean/OpEx certification(s) a plus
