Job Description

Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Leader is responsible for ensuring all aspects of the San Diego Quality Program is compliant with internal and external quality requirements.  The incumbent will be responsible for managing and training Inspectors, quality throughput through the department as well as throughout the shop.

Position Responsibilities

The essential functions of this position are: 

  • Defining and specifying training, and standards, to fulfill the quality requirements for manufactured material, component, or product.
  • Proactively identify, train and remediate issues within the quality organization by applying countermeasures to ensure first-pass yield at the in-process and final inspection stages of the work product. 
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma tools to ensure workflow and management systems provide escape-proof resolutions to repetitive issues. 
  • Auditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of manufacturing processes and/or outputs against defined internal and regulatory standards
  • Reporting and troubleshooting manufacturing process deviations and defects in finished goods.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The specific EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE requirements of this position are:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ work in aerospace industry 
  • Bachelor’s degree; Engineering or related, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (Part 21 and 45) including associated Orders and Advisory Circulars.
  • Prior experience with part 145/21 certification inspection, preferred
  • 2 yr. supervisory experience to include employee reviews and performance management, timekeeping, coaching and counseling, etc.
