Job Description

SCOPE of WORK

A New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of new repairs and new components at Chromalloy Component Services, Inc. (CCS), including the creation and documentation of all required processes and procedures used to disassemble, assemble, inspect, repair, test and manufacture the affected components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Create, document, develop and implement procedures, instructions and drawings related to new repair development and new component implementation activites s in compliance with 14 CFR Part 145 and/or any other applicable Code of Federal Regulations, manufacturer's specifications, customer specifications and other requirements as applicable.

Develop capital requests and quote forms for tooling and equipment required in support of new repair development and component implementation activities.

Define, conduct and document all tests required to substantiate new repairs and new component implementation activities.

 

Oversee the design of any tooling and fixtures in support of new repair development and new component implementation activities.

Develop internal and external reports identifying the status of new repair development and new component implementation activities on a timely basis.

Assist in training and qualification of engineering personnel with regards to new repair development and new component implementation activities and provide technical direction to those performing the production work on site to ensure that the instructions are properly interpreted and the quality requirements are met.

Participate in the First Article Inspection Review (FAIR) associated with new repair development and new component implementation activities in accordance with internal and/or customer requirements.

Interact with other internal groups to ensure the planned work related to new repair development and new component implementation activities reflects the requirements requested by the company’s customers.

Develop technical relationships with customers to a) identify additional business opportunities and b) support the resolution of any technical conflicts that may arise during a contract / purchase order execution; plan and coordinate customer visits from a technical support standpoint as required to do so.

Support initiatives in the identification and resolution of problems, loss reporting and continuous improvement (six-sigma and lean) activities.

Understand and implement the policies set forth in the several manuals, specifications and procedures available at CCS.

Support the NPI Engineering Manager maintaining clean, orderly and safe working conditions in the Engineering Department.

Advise the NPI Engineering Manager when there is a need to revise any engineering, inspection or production practices or procedures.

Exercise individual initiative, discretion and judgment to confer with the appropriate parties regarding any noticed or perceived internal issues.

Effectively communicate with peers, supervisors and management personnel, verbally and in writing, displaying an attitude that promotes teamwork and cooperation between the various internal departments.

Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.

Perform duties of a lower classification as workload dictates.

Offer regular and reliable attendance.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the NPI Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Know how to read and use calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pi-tapes, plug gages, dial calipers, dial indicators, protractors, radius gages, hardness testers, dial bore gages, thickness gages, Omni gages, go/no-go gages, and micrometers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Aerospace or Industrial Engineering mandatory. A minimum of three years of experience in an aerospace production support or design role. Prior working experience with Six-Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing techniques desired but not mandatory.

CERTIFICATIONS

None required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Prior experience using Microsoft Project, Visio, and Access desired but not mandatory.

Demonstrated proficiency with 3D CAD applications; NX preferred.

Experience with light scanning (GOM ATOS preferred) desired but not mandatory.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Ability to perform complex engineering calculations using advanced mathematical functions (derivatives, integrals, area, perimeter and volume calculations, etc.).
