Payroll Manager (Maternity Cover



Position Reports To:   HR Site Lead (Derby)

Direct Reports:            N/A

Location:                     Derby/Crewe



We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager for maternity cover.

You must be well versed in all aspects of payroll including manual calculations and have excellent interpersonal skills. Experience working with ADP payroll and Microsoft Excel is essential and experience of HRIS rollout is desirable

As the Payroll Manager you will maintain and review the monthly end-to-end payroll processing and will ensure the timely and accurate input of all payroll information. You will ensure that compliance is second to none and will strive to achieve zero error run rate on monthly payroll submissions. You will take the lead on any payroll projects and will review opportunities to make efficiencies across the various pay structures/payrolls.


Primary Accountabilities:

  • Manage and process Monthly end to end payroll for 3 UK sites
  • Manage Site Time & Attendance Systems
  • Ensuring all payrolls are processed in a timely manner
  • Ensuring Payroll data is recorded & software is maintained to legislative requirements
  • Be the first point of contact for all payroll queries, HMRC enquiries, general tax queries and pension queries.
  • Prepare & process Tax Year End, P60s and P45s where appropriate.
  • Supply all Month and Year End data required to the Accountants
  • Process additional payments such as bonuses
  • Administering all statutory deductions - SMP, SPP, SSP, NI, PAYE
  • Managing the UK’s Auto enrolment Pension
  • Reconciling HMRC & Pensions liabilities & making payments
  • Managing benefits and BIK & process P11ds
  • Produce Monthly Reports & KPI’s for all sites including Headcount and Absence
  • Utilising ADP & IHCM to its full potential
  • Organising, auditing, cleansing and maintaining HR data and HR GDPR
  • Taking ownership of the HR data manipulation and reporting to produce monthly reports and KPI’s for all sites including Headcount and absence reporting
  • Streamlining HR processes and helping to manage the HR systems
  • Updating employee electronic records
  • Providing an effective support service to end users 
  • General administration for the HR team, and first point of contact for basic HRIS queries





Minimum Requirements:


  • The ideal candidate for the Payroll Manager role will:
  • Be highly confidential and trustworthy with confidential payroll information
  • Be used to fast paced environment with payroll
  • Have experience of Payroll & Time & Attendance Systems ideally ADP & Realtime
  • Have ran a medium sized payroll previously for between 250-500
  • An experienced Excel user, who can create reports use lookups, and present KPI’s
  • Have a desire to make improvements where possible
  • Be qualified in payroll
