The Residency Pastor serves as a key leader within CCV’s Leadership Institute, responsible for recruiting, developing, and shepherding ministry residents as they prepare for future ministry leadership. This role provides spiritual, pastoral, and leadership formation through intentional training, mentorship, and hands‑on ministry experiences, while partnering closely with campus, department, HR, and central support teams to ensure a healthy, scalable residency program.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions

Resident Recruitment & Selection

  • Partner with HR, campus leadership, and Marketing & Communications to recruit, interview, and select qualified residency candidates.
  • Support and help execute strategic recruitment efforts, including events, campus engagement, and targeted outreach.
  • Build strategic recruiting relationships colleges/ strategic partners (willing to travel).
  • Assist in onboarding new residents and ensuring a smooth transition into the residency program.

Trainer & Campus Partnership

  • Identify, equip, and support a staff trainer for each resident in collaboration with campus and department leaders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with campuses and ministry teams that host residents.
  • Visit campuses on weekends to check-in with Residents and Staff (~20 weekends a year).
  • Provide encouragement, alignment, and ongoing support to trainers and ministry leaders involved in resident development.
  • Collaborate with IT and Marketing & Communications to help implement systems and tools that support program effectiveness and scalability.

Resident Development & Pastoral Care

  • Plan and facilitate residency training experiences that support personal, professional, spiritual, and leadership growth.
  • Lead orientation and onboarding experiences that prepare residents for ministry readiness and mission alignment.
  • Provide direct pastoral care and mentorship to residents, while supporting a broader mentor network for each participant.
  • Partner with trainers and leadership to evaluate resident progress and readiness for future ministry roles.

Content Development & Teaching

  • Develop and deliver biblically sound, ministry‑aligned training content for residency gatherings and required trainings.
  • Design curriculum and learning resources that cultivate spiritual formation, emotional health, pastoral character, and ministry competence.
  • Collaborate with subject‑matter experts and CCV leaders to ensure content aligns with CCV values and ministry needs.
  • Build a reusable library of training content to support future residency cohorts.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience serving in the local church.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience serving in multiple church and ministry contexts.
