Company Description

The Associate Pastor focuses on helping people take their Next Step. They lead CCV Groups, Next Step Center’s & classes (Starting Point, Baptisms, Financial classes, etc.), and assist in Pastoral Care opportunities. They also recruit and train their Group Coaches and Next Step Center Coaches. An Associate Pastor must embody a heart for people and possess the maturity and wisdom to pastorally equip and empower people as they grow in their faith. 

Job Description

NEXT STEPS

  • Help people commit to Jesus Christ & your local campus by executing regular Starting Point classes.
  • Champion Starting Point follow-up for your campus, and make sure every person understands their Next Step in their faith journey.
  • Own baptism on your campus and ensure that every person is celebrated and challenged to take their Next Step.
  • Champion the Next Step Center by helping attendees become aware of their Next Step and begin engaging in that Step.
  • Help and assist every person activate their gifts and talents to fulfill the vision of the church.

COACH RECRUITING, TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

  • Recruit and develop group coaches in your AOR. 
  • Train, empower and encourage your coaches in all areas (best practices, group multiplication, disciple-making, etc.)
  • Ensure coaches are actively helping people connect in community, grow spiritually, and take Next Steps.
  • Cast a clear vision for how to move people in their Next Step and multiply groups.

STEWARD GROUPS

  • Cast a clear vision for why groups help us fulfill our vision and mission.
  • Help coaches remain focused on helping people connect in community and challenged to grow in their Next Step.
  • Assist in helping people find the best group near them or for them.
  • Empower coaches develop an assistant coach and activate the gifts and talents of those in their group so we can multiply groups.

CAMPUS SUPPORT

  • Provide pastoral care to the people in your AOR as needed.  This includes weddings, funerals, baptisms, hospital/hospice calls, referrals, resources, benevolence and family dedications.
  • Assist and contribute with your campus team in any events regardless of whether it is in your AOR or not.  
  • Develop relationships with key members and organizations within your AOR (school leaders, business leaders, city officials, etc.)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Biblical Studies is helpful
  • Experience working in Ministry is preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience
  • Experience serving/leading in a church setting
  • Experience mentoring or leading others to Christ

Sample Daily Activities
Daily activities may include (but are not limited to) the following: Meeting with leaders, pastoral care, follow-up from weekend/class/event (via phone, email, 1:1), visiting groups, relationship building, staff engagement, attending campus meetings, assisting with campus events, etc.
