Job Description

Storyteller

We are looking for a passionate and creative Storyteller to join our Central Video Team and help us share the amazing stories of God’s work in our church and beyond. As a Storyteller, you will be responsible for:

  • Sourcing of faith stories and testimonies from our congregation and community, through various channels such as online platforms, referrals, and outreach events.
  • Vetting of candidates through pastoral meetings and interviews, ensuring that their stories are authentic, relevant, and aligned with our church’s vision and values.
  • Development of the creative approach for each story, in collaboration with the Central Video Lead and the Teaching Pastor, to match the theme and message of the weekend service.
  • Video editing skills to cut together timelines and content after the capture of an interview, using professional software and equipment, and following the best practices and standards of our video production team.
  • Shepherding nuanced and sensitive conversations with the storytellers, providing pastoral care and guidance, and respecting their privacy and boundaries.
  • Establishing relationships with other ministries and pastors across our church campuses, to have a pulse on how God is moving in different areas and contexts, and to identify potential stories and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Using AirTable or other programs to maintain a library of options and story types, keeping track of the status and progress of each story, and ensuring that the stories are diverse, balanced, and impactful.
  • Working closely with the Senior Pastor and the Teaching Pastor, to equip them with testimonies and developing stories that they can share from stage, to inspire and encourage our congregation and visitors.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A strong personal faith and commitment to our church’s mission and values.
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, media, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in storytelling, video production, or a similar role, preferably in a church or ministry setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen, empathize, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • A creative and innovative mindset, with the ability to craft compelling and engaging stories that capture the audience’s attention and emotion.
  • A high level of proficiency in video editing software and equipment, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • A collaborative and flexible attitude, with the ability to work well with others in a team environment, and to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
  • A willingness to learn and grow, and to receive and give constructive feedback.
