Job Description

Position Summary

The primary responsibility is to supervise, coordinate, and perform the requirements of the environmental services program, includes housekeeping and laundry, to ensure the community is maintained in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition. Suggests work related improvements to enhance department standards, and assists with budget development and compliance as well as regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties

  • Investigates complaints regarding housekeeping/laundry service and equipment and takes corrective action.
  • Obtains a list of prospective new resident move-ins and discharges to prepare work assignments.
  • Conducts orientation training and in-service training to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Develops and assigns work schedules for personnel in the environmental services department. Inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
  • Screens job applicants, hires new employees, and recommends promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
  • Reviews and evaluates the work performance of assigned personnel as well as coaches/disciplines assigned personnel according to established company personnel policies.
  • Inventories and orders supplies and equipment necessary for the day-to-day operation.
  • Reviews and approves electronic time cards to ensure personnel are in compliance with established attendance standards and payroll is completed timely & accurately.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • 1–2 years experience in environmental services, specifically with janitorial supplies and materials utilized in various locations throughout the assigned area.
  • 1-year experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, MSDS and Healthcare regulations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office or applicable software required. Facility Services Management Database experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Position requires moderate physical work. Occasional exertion of force of objects up to 50 pounds, constant exertion of force of up to 15 pounds.
  • Position requires constant standing, walking, stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulder height, and grasping.  Position also requires some crawling, kneeling, and fine motor control of fingers.  Occasional sitting.
  • Exposure to blood borne pathogens, body excretions and communicable diseases possible.
  • Frequent exposure to chemicals and possible high heat temperatures.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, family members, visitors frequently.
