Job Description

Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Director, plans, coordinates, supervises, and manages the Life Enrichment Department in our higher levels of living (Suites). Identifies the therapeutic and recreational needs of individuals and coordinates programs to meet these needs on a group and/or individual basis.  This position includes some budget oversight and personnel management including supervision of assigned staff, hiring assistance, scheduling, performance management, development, and training

Essential Duties

  • Oversees and implements meaningful activities, appropriate to the individual needs and interests of the participants.
  • Coordinates the Life Enrichment program with other departments through ongoing communication and collaborative efforts.
  • Responsible for ensuring all state and federal statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to this department are being met.
  • Recognizes special needs within the resident populations and develops programs to meet those special needs
  • Develops, maintains, and posts all monthly calendars of events related to suites residents.
  • Works with the volunteer coordinator to implement a meaningful use of volunteers in the life enrichment program.
  • Coordinates, purchases and maintains supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Conducts initial assessments on all new participants to evaluate their therapeutic and recreational needs
  • Drives the bus for scenic rides and large group outings.
  • Attends necessary meetings with the IDT, sharing relevant information regarding resident psycho-social needs/changes
  • In compliance with the Company’s policies and under the guidance of the department director, may be responsible for interviewing, hiring, developing, supervising and following the Company’s performance management policy with assigned staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree. Preference in therapeutic or recreational therapy, communications or education.
  • 3-years experience in social or recreational programming.
  • 3-years experience working with senior adults.
  • Drivers license in good standing
  • Ability to work with all residents and families to evaluate residents’ needs.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Knowledgeable with computer applications; Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be experienced in state survey regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Moderate physical effort required by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Sits, stands, bends and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, family members, visitors frequently.
