Job Description

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Assisted Living neighborhood of the community to include coordinating, planning, implementing, monitoring, directing and evaluating all aspects of operations including supervision, support and coaching of employees. Provides the tone and overall leadership in the Assisted Living neighborhood and assures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and the standards of excellence established by Christian Living Communities.

Essential Duties

  • Plans, organizes and implements the policies and procedures of this level of service.
  • In compliance with the Company’s policies, is responsible for interviewing, hiring, developing, supervising Assisted Living staff.
  • Ensures that staffing levels and scheduling patterns are adequate and appropriate for Assisted Living staffing coverage.
  • Ensures that resident incidents are investigated and documented, identifies safety hazards and institutes corrective action in a timely manner.
  • Manages completion of incident reports in a way that ensures timely completion and follow thru to action.
  • Provides tours as needed and participates in tenant selection, move in/out coordination, resident orientation and maintains liaison with residents and their families.
  • Prepares the annual budget, compiles, and distributes reports as required.
  • In coordination with the clinical staff, responsible for resident care continuous quality improvement programs.  Initiates risk management action plans to ensure quality care goals are met. 
  • Coordinates the orientation of new residents (and their family members) to the physical environment and community culture.
  • Ensures availability of adequate and appropriate supplies and equipment.
  • Manages the departmental budget process and supervises income and expenses regularly to remain within established budgetary guidelines.
  • Manages the nursing team to ensure the health needs of residents are met by providing appropriate and timely intervention. Ensures the reporting of significant resident changes to appropriate individuals. Ensures the maintenance of current medical records and ensures they comply with regulatory guidelines.
  • Takes a proactive role to promote person directed care and culture change initiatives. 
  • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures. Interprets departmental policies to all appropriate individuals.
  • Participates in conferences with residents and families, and other appropriate staff. Monitors resident services and assesses effectiveness of care programs.
  • Oversees Assisted Living’s Quality Assessment and Assurance Program
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • 4 years working with Seniors required, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Human Services, Gerontology or Social Work preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful operations experience specific to assisted living, Alzheimer’s, memory care.
  • Minimum 2-year experience supervising direct reports.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Assisted Living Director preferred
  • Strong computer and accounting skills.
  • Assisted Living Administrator Certification required
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Possible exposure to chemicals, blood borne pathogens and other communicable diseases
  • Sits, stands, bends and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, family members, visitors frequently.
