Job Description

The Director of Software Product Management will lead and define the software product strategy and roadmap, and guide to success the planning and execution of the software roadmap working with a cross-functional team. In this role, the individual will understand the market context and customer needs, manage roadmap and feature definition for the product line and support sales and marketing to deliver to the business plan. The Product Manager will work with the engineering team in an agile environment to deliver a scalable platform that not just meets current needs but considers future growth scenarios.

Job Duties

  • Understand the current market needs in both the product and business area with a deep understanding of the customer experience.
  • Gather the market intelligence across the business area and products.
  • Identify the customer ‘pain’ points and ensure the software is developed to address customer needs.
  • Define and maintain the product roadmap.
  • Ensure ideation pipeline for future roadmap opportunities (includes multiple sources both internal and external).
  • Understand the competitive advantages of Checkpoint software vs. the completion.
  • Propose new product and service solutions with a defined business case.
  • Gain ‘buy-in’ for product vision with key stakeholders (i.e., leadership, sales and development).
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on impact to the business and broad customer requirements.
  • Manage the implementation and ongoing success of software products, including (re)defining requirements, design reviews, and release management.
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure delivery of quick-to-market solutions while optimizing the resources.
  • Oversee and contribute to product documentation (release notes, user guides, training materials, sales collaterals etc.).
  • Communication of release plans with new/updated features and functionality.
  • Act as a Product Evangelist to build awareness and understanding.
  • Create regular communication flow internally and with externally (e.g., meetings, news flash, etc.).
  • Enable and maintain solution demonstration capabilities with continuous updates of new capabilities.
  • Provide demonstration capability training for key field team members.
  • Engage and support Sales with customer visits, trade shows, RFP development, proposal delivery and customer issues resolution.
  • Lead the RFQ/RFP responses related to product capability/features/roadmap.
  • Create Go to Market Plans that include working with executives and sales leaders and other product management team members.
  • Develop positioning strategies and product pricing (e.g., subscription pricing) that are competitive in the market.
  • Work with marketing on promotional plans to ensure that are consistent with solution capabilities and align with the strategy).

Qualifications

Education 

  • BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s degree (MS, MBA) is a plus.

Experience

5+ years of background in PaaS/SaaS product management, software product development or similar roles.

7+ years of hands-on software experience in the IT applications development or delivery, business analysis, business intelligence and enterprise solutions.

Experience building and delivering software solutions with world-class security and reliability.

Experience translating market/customer needs into clear deliverables for development team based on a thorough understanding of the market/customer needs.

Proven track record of building rapport and relationships at all levels. Ability to strongly influence C-Level decision makers.

Experience in a high-availability and mission-critical environment preferred.

Experience working in a multi-national company, in a team that is globally co-located preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Extensive knowledge of retail industry and business processes in retail and utilization/benefits of technology within retail environment.

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with strong presentation skills.

Good understanding and working experience in technology development best practices (such as, Agile, etc.) and product management technologies.

Experience in using JIRA Software for Agile based sprint planning and bug tracking.

Ability to successfully work with a cross range of teams including engineering, UX, and operations.

Account management, project management and problem-solving skills.

Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
