Job Description

The Project Manager Lead who is a super organizer and loves the challenge of leading a team, working with cross functional leaders, and taking projects from conception, through development and manufacturing, and into market. 

Innovation is at our core, and the Project Manager Lead will play an integral role in helping us develop intelligent solutions for the retail market. Checkpoint provides software, hardware, labels, tags and connected cloud-based solutions, and you will help to deliver projects that may span across all our business units.

Job Duties

  • Manage a team of 3 project managers and 1 process specialist
  • Triage and assign new global product development and local operational projects to the Project Management Operations Team
  • Work with project sponsors and stakeholders to ensure project scopes are clear and concise.
  • Build and present dashboards and other reports on the Global PMO Team’s portfolio to executive leadership
  • Provide clear, ongoing communication to all stakeholders, globally, related to project status on all projects owned by the PMO Team
  • Establish, Maintain, Communicate and Ensure the team and organization follow/use the established project management methodology and tools
  • Lead dynamic cross-functional, global matrix teams to deliver projects of various scope from inception, through development and into manufacturing/execution
  • Plan, execute, control, and monitor a portfolio of global product, local operational, and sales projects with budgets varying from small to large and timelines ranging from weeks to years
  • Prepare estimated and detailed project plans for all phases of the projects.
  • Execute ongoing risk management and mitigation strategies across individual projects and the PMO Team’s Portfolio
  • Provide clear and concise communication and status reporting on project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues across leadership both formally and informally.
  • Interact and build relationships with internal and external subject matter experts, business process owners, manufacturing teams, Product Management team, partners, and customers.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required,
  • Master’s Degree, a plus
  • PMP certification strongly preferred

Experience

  • 5 – 7 years of Project Management experience
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Proven experience managing both people and complex projects consisting of cross functional teams
  • Manufacturing experience (specifically with China), a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in Smartsheet required
  • Expert in Smartsheet preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner
  • Self-aware and comfortable with strong team collaboration and ongoing improvement activities
  • Theoretical and practical project management knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Strong, demonstrable critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time and task management skills with the ability and comfort to prioritize and pivot quickly based on team, organization, and project needs.
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations
  • Not afraid to escalate situations to others when necessary
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change with competing demands
  • Ability to work independently and to perform well under pressure Etc.
  • Ability to travel when needed, up to 10%
