Job Description

The System Test Technician will be responsible for the planning, creation, and execution of test plans for a variety of Checkpoint Systems state-of-the-art RF and RFID solutions. This person will accurately track and report bugs, working with the multi-functional engineering team in the evaluation and risk mitigation of issues, along with supporting beta tests at customer sites.

Job Duties

  • Develop test plans, test cases and requirement traceability matrices to support comprehensive testing of complex systems
  • Execute tests according to test plans and report on progress of validation activities both in writing and in review meetings
  • Create validation tests, estimate timelines and interface project manager on progress
  • Work with design teams during product development to better understand product and improve final validation test strategies
  • Coordinate review meetings of validation activities and defect reviews with multiple stakeholders
  • Provide design verification support for engineering teams and manufacturing test processes
  • Assist in developing beta test plans and supporting pilot installations at customer locations
  • Develop and assemble structures and jigs to execute tests on various hardware
  • Perform regression testing to confirm functionality was not lost between updates

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline or experience equivalent preferred

Experience

  • 4+ years of system test work experience
  • Experience with integration of systems consisting of data collection devices, data/communication networks, embedded electronics and software applications
  • Understanding of wired and wireless switches, routers and other network devices
  • Experience in developing and conducting engineering and validation tests on non PC hardware and software
  • Familiarity with risk identification and mitigation as well as the ability to present effective justification for test strategies
  • Working knowledge of PractiTest or other test management tools a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Solid understanding of electronics
  • Knowledge in the use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is critical
  • Defect tracking, corrective action, and continual process improvement knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of communication protocols including Ethernet, WIFI, RS232, RS485, and USB
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong Microsoft Office product skills, in particular Excel
  • Excellent analytical, trouble shooting and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to climb & work on ladders
  • Ability to lift weight of 30lbs
  • Ability to work in teams or independently
