Job Description

The Print Shop Team Lead for Apparel Labeling Solutions is responsible for providing operational leadership to the US production facility for Apparel Labeling Solutions. Implementation and management of standard operating procedures to maintain highest level of quality, fast response time, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, tight production schedules and information management standards are a key part of the role. This is a hands-on role requiring the ability to perform all the jobs of the print shop – thermal/laser imprinting and finishing (including RFID label production). The position reports to the Global Sales Director North America.

Job Duties

  • Plan and execute production schedule to meet order fulfillment targets
  • Establish metrics for improving and tracking quality and productivity
  • Accountable to lean manufacturing processes; and profitability of the US production unit.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of variable data, digital printing and workflow solutions
  • Implement and sustain standard operating procedures to improve operational efficiency
  • Communicate and coordinate with functional counterparts and other global print shops as needed.
  • Work directly with customers, as needed, to ensure high level of product quality to meet customer expectation
  • Monitor warehouse inventory control management processes to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Establish and monitor safety polices to ensure compliance
  • Over time build a team in the printing, finishing, and fulfillment departments.

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or equivalent technical training in the print industry

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the printing industry
  • Proficient in prepress technologies and laser/thermal printing operations.
  • Proven results leading small teams
  • Knowledge of ISO quality standards and/or Six Sigma is a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital prepress, variable data order processing, and barcode printing applications
  • Experience with shop floor data collection processes for job tracking
  • Experience with Illustrator, QuarkXpress, Photoshop, InDesign is a plus
  • Computer knowledge in a Windows software environment using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP is a plus
  • Strong innovation and creative thinking skills to contribute to continuous improvement
  • Experience in managing outsource vendor relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking and team environment
