Job Description

The Product Manager lead is responsible for guiding the success of multiple internal and external product lines. Leading a team of Product Managers, individually focused on specific products lines, the Product Management leads and coordinates the group to work with cross-functional teams internally and with partners externally.  The primary objective is identifying market opportunity, defining product requirements, creating supporting business case and executing on the implementation.  In addition the Product Manager lead will assess work with Product Managers on assessing profitability and profit improvement strategies, forecasting and road mapping products.

Primary Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Regular (weekly) team calls to align/discuss and raise team issues or red flag priorities
  • Allocation of team projects, development projects or actions amongst the team
  • Creation, Maintenance and update of team priorities and activities on a SmartSheet (or similar) to track activities, access shared to Leadership Team
  • Weekly One to One calls / VC’s with team members 
  • Mentorship and direction setting, performance review as required

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Assist in the long-term strategic direction of the company with industry insight, customer needs contribution and Product Requirements/Business Case Creation
  • Regular Global or Regional Sales Updates and Feedback sessions to align and gather customer intelligence and feedback (typically one per month)
  • Regular Global or Regional Supply Chain and Customer Service update and feedback sessions (typically one per month) 
  • Monthly SCM Sales/Production Forecast calls for production agreements on product groups
  • Close liaison with R&D on new development Discovery concepts and building project roadmap
  • External Market leadership through customer Innovation Sessions, virtual or face to face, with key strategic clients on regular intervals. Aim would be to hold at least one such session per key client annually
  • With Product Managers, ensure each product launch is fully supported with a comprehensive “Go to Market” plan.

 

Product Portfolio Management

  • Overall market positioning and price management for line of business, including setting RSP and MSP, including SAP creation of Pricing on new products
  • End of Life Process ownership
  • Cost management for each LOB product category

Qualifications

  • Engineering based degree
  • MBA would be advantageous
  • Previous experience in RF EAS and or RFID in retail would be advantageous
  • Has technical workplace experience
  • Has led a team of people
  • Is numerate and understands costings, margin, business planning
  • Has been customer facing
  • Is a strong communicator

Additional Information

  • Can be home based or in-office
  • Travel 30-50% of time
