Job Description

Checkout.com is looking for a Data Scientist to work on Fraud Machine Learning and Data Analysis, you'll develop and implement machine learning models to detect and prevent fraud, analyze complex data sets for patterns, and collaborate with teams to enhance fraud detection systems. You'll stay updated on emerging threats, ensure data integrity and compliance, and communicate insights to stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
You will work closely with other Data Scientists leveraging cutting-edge technology and data insights. You will also collaborate regularly with other teams and cross-functional stakeholders to establish priorities and drive merchant frauds down.
What you will be doing:
- Managing and developing the Data Scientists to help them wake up motivated and with a smile on their face
- Guiding technical decisions around ML - both theoretical and practical for models and tooling
- Be a knowledge leader in the payment fraud world
- Drive the roadmap forward for throughout senior leadership and the executive team
- Drive a culture of cross-team learning and knowledge sharing
- Periodically be a consultant to merchants to understand and solve their fraud problems
- Implement robust measurements to assess how proposed solutions impact merchants' performance and revenue, providing valuable insights for both internal and external ROI.
- Collaborate with various teams across the company to ensure an outstanding merchant experience and feed requirements for product development
Qualifications
- Curious
- Ability to take initiative and work autonomously
- Years of managing a team of Risk/Fraud Data Scientists
- Have 5+ years experience as Data Scientist in a data-intensive environment, working with large & diversified data sets
- Feel comfortable writing SQL and Python code and manipulating on big data - even though your code isn’t expected to go into production
- Strong Machine Learning knowledge - both theoretical and practical
- Good communication skills
- Challenge processes & decisions to make it better for everyone
- Data driven, you clearly define success metrics and measure progress against them
- Flexible, adaptable and has a willingness to learn
- Good knowledge of today’s major e-commerce and payments technologies and trends is a plus
- Experience with Git & Spark, Databricks, Retool, APIs, knowledge of the Payment Industry is a plus
