Job Description

Reporting Line: Senior Director, APAC Financial Controls based in Singapore

Checkout.com is actively looking for a qualified Manager/ Senior Manager, Financial Control to join our fast growing team in Tokyo.

This is a very exciting opportunity for an accounting professional to join a rapidly expanding global company.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, self-motivated with excellent communication skills and can work to deadlines. You'll manage monthly bookkeeping and close activities, technical accounting issues, ad hoc projects, plus manage the annual external audits and tax compliance. This role reports to the Senior Director, APAC Financial Controls.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for monthly financial reporting of the company on an IFRS basis to regional management and to the corporate accounting function
  • Review financial statements for statutory close according to Japan GAAP
  • Oversee certain accounting functions including but not limited to customer billing, fixed assets, general ledger, payroll, A/P, A/R, expense reporting
  • Preparation and approval of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations according to local GAAP and IFRS
  • Lead communications with external auditors and other stakeholders relevant to financial reporting matters
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations
  • Cash flow management – management of outstanding debtors and ensuring sufficient working capital to meet business needs
  • Provide reliable financial information for key decision making to local management in a timely manner
  • Maintain documentation of financial process and participate in continuous process improvement
  • Participate in any system implementation/ testing projects or enhancements to existing systems or new applications, as required
  • Other tasks as directed by management

About You:

  • Bachelor Degree in Economics, Accounting or equivalent with a strong academic record
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant
  • 7-10 years relevant experience 
  • Experience working with a multinational, tech company leading accounting, compliance and audits activities 
  • Big 4 experience is a plus
  • Up-to-date technical skills and confident preparing IFRS and J-GAAP financial statements
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team player with proven coaching competence
  • Well organized, hardworking, focused and committed on results
  • Highly motivated and able to work towards tight deadlines on multiple projects in a fast paced work environment
  • Strong fluency in Japanese and English
