Job Description

NOTE: This position will work in Murray, Whitfield and Walker counties in NW Georgia

Supports the Retail Store Manager in effectively managing the operation of a store, ensuring that donors and customers receive superior customer service and that production, sales and margin goals are achieved.


  • Provides customer service
  • Available to assist customers cheerfully
  • Ensures prompt and accurate customer checkout
  • Handles price changes, refunds and merchandise exchanges
  • Resolves customer complaints and concerns
  • Keeps store well stocked and clean, with merchandise appropriately displayed
  • Wears professional attire (knows and complies with the Professional Attire Policy)
  • Knows and follows CGI’s customer service policies and procedures
  • Provides donor service
  • Gives prompt assistance to people wishing to donate
  • Offers every donor a receipt
  • Responds appropriately to questions regarding CGI’s policy on accepting items for donations
  • Communicates merchandise shipment concerns to Store Manager, or in manager’s absence to appropriate operations employees and senior retail management personnel.
  • Assists with the verification daily summary reports, cash deposits and cash drawer counts.
  • Assists with the coordination and maintenance of a pleasing store appearance.
  • Assists with the implementation of marketing and promotional activities for the store.
  • Assists the Store Manager in preparing work schedules for all store employees; ensures appropriate level of floor coverage while minimizing overtime hours.
  • Assists the Store Manager in completing store paperwork in an accurate and timely manner, including employee work schedule, donation activity reports, production reports, drawer history reports, tax exempt logs, incident reports, and truck/supply orders.
  • Serves as key holder
  • Ensures that the store is opened and closed at scheduled times
  • Follows all established procedures for opening and closing
  • Safeguards store keys
  • Takes appropriate security precautions when opening and closing store
  • Operates POS system
  • Verifies cash drawer count
  • Has all managerial rights and overrides
  • Processes customer sales according to established procedures
  • Understands and follows the Cash Drawer Policy
  • Assists with daily reports and cash deposits
  • Works assigned schedule
  • On the floor and ready to work by scheduled starting time
  • Understands and follows Attendance Policy
  • Works at other store locations as needed
  • CGI provides advance notice when possible
  • Travel costs are reimbursed in accordance to CGI’s Travel Policy
  • Complies with safety rules and performs duties in a safe manner
  • Understands and complies with the Personal Protective Equipment Policy
  • Understands and complies with all policies and procedures related to safety
  • Complies with Loss Prevention policies and procedures

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Three years retail experience required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Good written skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse group of individuals
  • Ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision
  • Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
