Job Description
As a scheduling manager, you will be responsible for the overall implementation of Chantier Davie Canada Inc. standard scheduling processes and procedures across multiple shipbuilding and repair programs.
You will manage a multidisciplinary team of specialized schedulers assigned to several projects, both current and future. You will be responsible for all HR activities and processes related to your team such as: assessing workforce needs and profiles required for the team to achieve its goal, actively participating in the hiring processes, conducting and communicating probationary and performance reviews for the team members, determining training and development needs, etc. As the leader of the team, you will play a key role in the mobilization, motivation, development, and retention of the team members.
More specifically, you will:
- Manage and continuously improve the processes for creating, tracking, and analyzing project planning activities
- Provide leadership and coaching to ensure that the team delivers their analysis, progress and trend report, milestones, and schedule threat mitigation
- Be responsible for the development of all program and project schedules including work breakdown structures, key project milestones and project reporting baselines
- Be responsible for establishing, monitoring, and using key performance indicators (KPI) to provide management direction and correction on the performance of your direct reports working on the assigned projects
- Monitor various project scheduling meetings to validate that the team is working on priorities.
- Provide advice and guidance, as needed, to correct prioritization of team efforts and project support.
Qualifications
- Have extensive experience with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Know and can apply scheduling and progress methodologies and methods as contained in the AACE and PMI (PMBok) standard practice
- Hold a university degree or a college diploma in a relevant discipline (engineering, naval architecture) and have a minimum of 8 years of experience in project controls or have a minimum of 8 years of experience in shipbuilding/repair planning
- Experience with various types of projects, such as new construction, modular fabrication, and repair work
- Strong knowledge of the interrelationship of project scope definition from estimating to commissioning
- Strong knowledge of Earned Value Measurement in engineering, procurement, fabrication & construction (CPI, SPI, EAC, etc.)
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate with different departments in a multidisciplinary environment
- Team-oriented
