Job Description
Reporting to the PIB Project Manager (PM) the position's requirement is to work collaboratively within the Integrated Project Team (IPT) and Davie’s functional teams to ensure all aspects of the PIB contract design phase project requirements are met.
The DPM will represent Davie’s interests while building positive relationships with Davie’s customer and suppliers.
The DPM will assist in the leadership and of the PMO and the interface with Davie’s functional support organizations to ensure they know what is required to support a successful project. Precisely, you will :
- Develop and ensure effective implementation of the project execution plan. Identify risk areas and recommend mitigation plans;
- Develop regular reports for the client and internal status that monitor and communicate clearly project budget and schedule status and forecasts;
- Identify leading indicators to identify potential issues;
- Identify resource needs in Davie’s functional areas and sub-contractors to ensure adequate resources are in place to meet project requirements;
- Perform project audits to ensure program management outcomes are effectively being captured.
- Ensure the project is profitable and maintains positive cash flow;
- Ensure the timely assessment of all change management processes, both internal and external, and ensure the required reports, documentation, tracking has been completed in accordance with the defined processes;
- Ensure the timely preparation and accuracy of project invoicing;
- Lead the PM team in such a manner as to make them effective team members committed to achieving the project goals;
- Complete all performance reviews for the PM team;
Qualifications
- Positive attitude and sound business acumen
- Proven experience of meeting past project goals in a complex, technical environment that is similar to shipbuilding
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Master’s is preferred;
- Knowledge of cost/schedule systems and financial system integration. PMP designation is an asset;
- Knowledge of EVMS;
- Knowledge of risk management principles and methodologies;
- Demonstrated understanding of the interrelationship of scope definition, schedule, estimate, sequencing and execution and procurement and contracting strategies;
- Ability to clearly articulate issues verbally and in writing and provide focused briefs
- Ability to communicate in English and French
- Proven ability to work in a team based and collaborative environment;
- Ability to prioritize the work.
- Ability to identify emergent issues and recommend solutions
