Job Description
Job Title: Chief Estimator
NOC: 22303 – Construction Estimators
Salary: $170,000-215,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
Employment Type: Full‑time, permanent Language: English Positions Available: 1
Job Duties
- Plan, coordinate and direct all estimating functions for commercial and industrial construction projects
- Prepare detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, cost summaries and preliminary schedules
- Analyze drawings, specifications and tender documents to determine scope and requirements
- Lead subcontractor and vendor solicitation, evaluation and selection
- Develop bid proposals and supporting documentation aligned with project objectives
- Participate in pre‑bid meetings, strategy sessions and client presentations
- Identify project risks and opportunities and communicate findings
- Mentor and support estimating team members to strengthen technical capability
- Support handoff of successful tenders to operations, ensuring clarity and continuity
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial or institutional construction estimating, including leadership responsibility
- 5+ years as estimating leadership
- Experience preparing estimates for complex, multi‑million‑dollar projects
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and cost‑modelling techniques
- Experience coordinating subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Proficiency with estimating software and digital takeoff tools
- Post‑secondary education in construction, engineering, architecture, or equivalent experience
Work Environment
- Office‑based role with occasional site visits
- Fast‑paced pre‑construction and estimating environment
- Collaboration with project management, operations, and senior leadership teams
