Job Description

The General Foreman aids the Superintendent in managing all field and site-specific construction activities, including budget, schedule, performance, subtrades, and profitability of commercial construction projects. This person must be able to communicate effectively with the Superintendent, Project Manager and other field staff. The General Foreman is responsible for helping to provide direction and lead Chandos staff in the field.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman trade certification with Red Seal and/or Technical diploma
  • Gold Seal is considered an asset
  • Concrete experience an asset
  • Leadership training and safety certificates are recommended.
  • Five or more years of commercial construction experience. 
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, field drawings, and plans.
  • An understanding of all construction trades and techniques.
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace regulations, ordinances, legislation and building codes.
  • Travel to site and off-site locations is required.
  • May be required to work out of town.
  • Will be working both indoors and outdoors.
  • Will be exposed to potential hazards and conditions of the construction site.
  • As this is a supervisory role, hours of work, and days of work may vary from week to week based upon the business needs
