Job Description

As a Senior Project Manager you are responsible for successfully delivering business outcomes for Central 1s projects of significant size, complexity, a diverse range of stakeholders, and significant risk. Working within an Agile environment or a hybrid environment, you are accountable for planning, monitoring, executive level reporting, effective coordination of the team, and management to realize the projected benefits.  You will provide leadership and coaching support to the team. As a hands on senior PM you will actively remove roadblocks, have the ability to facilitate program standups, and program planning sessions. Specifically you will be leading the delivery and implementation of the Payments Modernization Interac Instant project.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the overall execution and ensure successful project delivery meeting the required standard of quality.
  • Working on new cutting-edge products, as part of the Payments Modernization space
  • Manages all aspects of the project lifecycle and works with matrix business, corporate and IT partners to oversee all phases of the project, and to ensure that related project processes are completed as required
  • Within the context of the assigned project, responsible for building and sustaining the day-to-day relationships and communications (including project briefings) with stakeholders at various levels of the organization, including executive level, as well as other internal and external resources.
  • Ensures end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit. Ensures there is clear linkage between the business vision/context and the project scope and objectives.
  • Provide timely project reporting for senior management.
  • Chairs regular core team and governance forums (e.g. Working Committees, Operating Committees, Decision Forums) to review progress with key constituents.
  • Represents the interests of the project in various project governance forums.
  • Rigorously manages scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed on time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Defines and tracks project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall delivery plan.

Qualifications

 What you bring: 

  • Your excitement about Payments
  • At least 10 years experience managing projects or programs, working on projects in accordance with standard project management methodologies and best practices.
  • 5+ years prior work experience in Payments or the financial services industry
  • Relationship management and consulting skills.
  • Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively
  • Problem solver, is proactive in driving the project, has the ability to identify issues related to major software development projects and implementations in a heavily regulate industry, ideally Financial Industry.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, which brings clarity and precision when interacting with stakeholders
  • Ability to proactively drive the completion of the project
  • Thorough understanding of Agile as well as Waterfall and Hybrid SDLC principles to support the delivery of complex technical solutions
  • Knowledge and experience working with organizational business processes; ideally in banking or other regulated industry.
  • A bachelor’s degree in science, management or an IT leadership related discipline; specific consulting subject-matter expertise
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is preferred
  • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects
  • The ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems around people, process and technology
