Job Description

The Financial and Regulatory Reporting group will be the authoritative source and expert in accounting policies and will offer professional opinions on accounting matters and develop reports to facilitate informed decisions by senior management.

The Financial and Regulatory Reporting group will be responsible for the production and distribution of Central 1’s quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A. Additionally, the group will be responsible for the production and distribution of financial statements for Central 1’s subsidiaries and affiliates.

This role is open to candidates in which our offices are located. 

What you'll do:

As a team member within the Financial and Regulatory Reporting group, the Accountant will:

  • Calculate, prepare, and analyze financial data
  • Work in a dynamic environment

Financial Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of Central 1’s financial statements and MD&A according to the prescribed timeline
  • Prepare and/or assist in review the monthly and quarterly financial statements for Central 1’s subsidiaries and affiliates
  • Assist in the production of year end deliverables for external audit
  • Assist with reconciliations, journal entries, and ad hoc requests

Regulatory Reporting and Capital Management

  • Obtain, assemble, calculate and analyze information from various systems to complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory reporting
  • Complete the monthly/quarterly and annual regulatory reports for the subsidiaries of Central 1

Process Improvement

  • Regularly review internal financial reporting processes, develop opportunities for improvement and proactively suggest improvements
  • Automate processes and utilize new technology

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • A university degree and the desire to pursue the professional accounting designation (CPA), together with 2-4 years of experience in the financial service industry
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated passion for process improvement
