Because of COVID19, all Central1 offices are currently closed to non-essential employees. This role will see you working remotely until our offices are reopened. The timeline to reopen is still under consideration, as are our future remote working policies.

As part of the Accounting and Financial Systems (A&F) team you will assist in creating and maintaining a stable Finance infrastructure. A&F responsibilities consist of conducting key accounting activities including processing and reconciling financial data, project accounting, and administering Finance’s technology systems. Additionally, the team designs, develops, and maintains an internal control environment to ensure data integrity.

A&F group is responsible to provide the organization with a single source of truth for financial data and confidence in the finance function’s control environment.  

 What you'll do: 

• Support the Manager in accuracy of the operational profit and loss statement and related balance sheet accounts. Ensure appropriate controls, reconciliations and investigation of unusual balances or variances.  Identify trends and patterns as the first line of review.
• Oversight of indirect tax compliance
• Complete month, quarter and year end close activities within established timelines including review of financial statements for accuracy
• Review and approve reconciliations prepared by team members
• Prepare complex reconciliations
• Ensure inputs into the financial reporting process are accurate and completed in accordance with timelines; investigate unusual balances or variances
• Perform analysis of historical trends at the account, group and cost centre level
• Hold joint responsibility for the successful execution of A&F’s operations
• Help managers develop talent across the A&F group through a coaching leadership style that identifies strengths within the team and encourages employees to develop and improve their performance
• Build strong relations within Finance and with external stakeholders

Who you are: 

• Hold a professional accounting designation (CPA) and a university degree, together with at least 5 years of progressive experience in a finance team
• In-depth working knowledge of core financial systems and understanding of process automation capabilities 
• Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Ability to act as a business partner to internal and external stakeholders
• Display an agile mind set to accommodate a dynamic environment
• In-depth knowledge of indirect tax
• Effective consensus building, conflict resolution, and team-building skills, including being a role model for others and imparting knowledge and experience to junior team members if and when required
