    Job Description

    BASIC FUNCTION:

    The HR business partner position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and leaders in designated business units.  This position acts as a trusted advisor to leaders on recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and internal HR issues.  The successful incumbent act as an employee champion and change agent. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.  

    SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Collaborate and work proactively with Team Leads/Managers to identify HR related issues and priorities and provides general HR support and expertise, making recommendations to analyse and resolve HR issues as appropriate.
    • Provides advice and assistance to managers & staff at Central 1, for assigned client groups.
    • Focus on engagement at all levels within assigned client groups and the business unit lead and HR team to ensure cohesive and seamless HR service delivery.
    • Conducts recruitment for staff at Central, including initial contact with hiring manager, needs assessment, assisting with job description creation, job posting, short listing applicants, interviewing, reference checks, and negotiating offers and terms of employment with candidates
    • Maintains and provides input regarding program changes, including recruitment, retention, compensation, performance management.
    • Assists in career development issues, discussing career paths with leaders and provides training/workshops where required.
    • Conducts routine salary administration tasks, providing advice to managers on salaries of all employees, except senior management.
    • Provides guidance and coaching on the implementation of HR policies and procedures to Team Leads/Managers.
    • Acts as a positive change agent for implementation of new company initiatives.
    • Ensures a professional working environment is maintained, provides excellent customer service and follow- up as required.
    • Monitors and ensures accuracy of Ceridian HPL software and creates and runs reports as required.
    • Acts as internal resource for the performance management software to assist Team Leads/ Managers and employees with cyclical requirements and share best practices.
    • From time to time, act as the project manager for key initiatives to meet the department objectives, as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    • A bachelor’s degree in an applicable field (Human Resources or business administration)
    • A strong knowledge of human resource management theory and at least 5 years of related experience, on an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and oral/written communication skills, including an ability to coach and assist managers to have difficult conversations and coach their employees.
    • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Sound decision making and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to handle contentious situations with diplomacy and confidentiality.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office and HR systems and tools.
