Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION

Reporting to the Manager, Product Compliance & Design, the Regulatory and Compliance Analyst is responsible for delivering the key objectives of the Operations Manual Program (“the Program”). The individual hired for this role functions as a subject matter expert in financial services legal and compliance requirements, best practices and industry trends and their corresponding impacts on financial institution operations.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Become the subject matter expert on the content and documentation as it pertains to the product lines.
  • Working with Jr. and Intermediate Regulatory and Compliance Analyst, own the development and modification of multiple streams of content specific to regulatory and legal changes and their impact on the product lines.
  • Understand and identify the impacts of content changes within other documents/forms related to the product line
  • Work with legal and product management to ensure that regulatory and legal changes are compliant with the necessary governing regulatory bodies
  • Balance the need for risk management against usability and member experience
  • Participates on internal committees and working groups (i.e. Central 1 Compliance Committee) to mitigate credit union system risk and Central 1 risk.
  • Accountable for agreed upon deliverables within time, cost and scope.
  • Works with subscriber to resolve or provide options in regards to inquiries regarding program content and operational processes.
  • Identifies and recommend opportunities to streamline Program content and departmental processes with the objectives of continuous improvement and meeting the business needs of subscribers.
  • Work with the content development team to ensure that releases are achieved according to agreed upon and identified timelines.
  • Provide feedback into member related operational questions/issues as necessary.
  • Accountable for ensuring the completion and updating of all necessary tracking related to time spent, budget and deliverables for content projects as agreed upon.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Law and 7-9 years experience in a regulatory compliance or financial services role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications (CAMS, CFE, CRM) are desirable but not required.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing legislation, regulations and case law precedents that pertain to the broader financial services sector and credit unions. 
  • Understanding of the financial services industry, related core products and services, and operations.
  • Extensive capturing and documenting complex regulatory requirements and resulting operational impacts both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail while working in an environment that is subject to frequent interruptions, changing priorities, and conflicting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer service environment in face to face and non-face to face interactions. 
  • Experience with project management and mentoring/supervising the work of junior staff.
