Job Description

We are seeking an innovative, energetic and business savvy Consultant to join the People Solutions team, supporting Central 1’s People Solutions Consulting business unit. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced business savvy professional who knows how to work as an independent consultant to work closely with the Credit Union business leaders across Canada while playing a critical role on the People Solutions team.

ABOUT THE ROLE
You will work within the framework of People Solutions’ mandate, by providing external strategic human resources consulting services to member and non-member credit unions and to other provincial centrals and credit union affiliates.

You will be based in one of the following locations: Vancouver BC, Regina SK, Mississauga ON. and will travel as needed. You have a key role in contributing to the People Solutions Compensation revenue and business plan by delivering external strategic consulting services, identifying and following new leads and opportunities for new business, while actively promoting People Solutions services and Central 1 overall.

Your area of expertise is Compensation and your primary focus is the national compensation portfolio and related projects. You will also monitor and identify HR needs within credit unions, recommend and develop strategies and programs to meet those needs, as well as providing core research and services.

You are accountable for product and service development, improvement, and delivery of the compensation suite of products positioning this business line and our clients for growth. On a project basis, you will provide guidance and direction to the team’s administrative and analytical staff, external contract consultants and strategic partners. In your previous roles you have lead total reward projects and managed a team of researchers. You have run projects that involve scoping client needs, developing comprehensive proposals, establishing timelines and budgets, managing multiple stakeholders with competing interests, and writing detailed post-project reports that analyze findings, discuss options and present recommendations. 

Qualifications

ABOUT YOU
You have a minimum of 8 years of progressive external experience in human resources consulting management with a minimum of 6 years compensation consulting at a strategic level. You have additional total rewards expertise and compensation related areas. You have an undergraduate degree in business with post secondary education in HR management, preferably at the master’s level. A CCP is critical for this role and a CPHR designation is an asset. Experience working with credit unions or cooperatives also an asset but not necessary.

    Ability to develop and implement strategic HR programs related to performance management/measurement and compensation, organizational development, executive recruitment and succession management
    Compensation and Total Rewards consulting experience
    Ability to influence others and build cooperation and consensus
    Ability to build rapport and trust among clients and credit union contacts including HR professionals, credit union executives, and Board members
    Ability to develop HR products and programs and manage implementation activities
    Exceptional project management and interpersonal skills
    Exceptional client relationship management, facilitation, and presentation skills
    Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts clearly and concisely in both written and oral communications
    Strong data analysis skills and aptitude for using technology to build business solutions and enhance personal efficiency
    Superior organization skills and attention to detail; ability to manage competing priorities, project deadlines, and clients
    Collaborative team player with strong customer service orientation
    A consultative selling approach to clients’ needs
    Solid understanding of credit union system and business acumen
    Solid understanding of board governance
    Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive issues in a confidential manner
    Alignment to the values of the cooperative movement and credit union system
