Job Description

We are looking for a student interested in the workings of the financial markets to complete a full-time 4 month fall co-op term. As a co-op Treasury Analyst/Financial Modeling, you will assist and support the Capital Market Trading team in the enhancement and maintenance of capital markets business operations and develop reporting and financial applications.

You'll be able to work in an environment that will provide you with considerable exposure to various financial products in the currency, bond and derivative market that would benefit students interested in expanding their practical knowledge base of financial products. You'll also have the opportunity to experience a trading desk environment by learning about various financial products, reviewing, analyzing and enhancing our suite of trading models and systems.

You'll be primarily accountable for:

  • Improve upon risk transparency and reporting
  • Model financial structures and databases, automate manual procedures, and create maintainable processes
  • Provide scenario and business analysis for strategic planning purposes
  • Develop valuation and pricing models

Qualifications

  • Completing a bachelors degree in the following areas of study: Computer Science, Stats, Math or/and Business

To be successful, the following technical qualifications are required:

  • The ability to manage and analyze data using advanced MS Excel and Database applications
  • Very good programming skills with emphasis on VBA
  • Previous experience with SQL queries, R and/or Python is an asset

In addition to the technical skills we are looking for you to:

  • Have strong people skills with a proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Have an interest in the financial markets, with some existing knowledge about financial products desirable but not necessary for your success
  • Take initiative and be able to work independently on projects in a high-paced environment
