Job Description

The successful candidate will focus on supporting the operational aspects of Systems supported services such as: Managed Server, Managed Desktop, Messaging and Collaboration and Identity and Access Management Services.

He or she will be responsible for providing day to day support and maintenance of our existing services based on the Microsoft platform with a strong emphasis on automation and scripting to effect change and ensure DEV, QA and PROD environments are provisioned and configured on the same specs. A key area of focus for this role will be Identity and Access Management; working under the guidance of senior IDM administrators, this role will perform day to day operational support for managed identities, group management and single sign on configuration and maintenance.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Day to day operational maintenance of user identity, groups and claims based authentication services.
  • Patch and maintain operating systems and related software using automated techniques where possible. Servicing systems while maintaining availability is often a priority.
  • Disciplined high and low level documentation of IT systems using wikis and diagrams.
  • Serve as a technical resource for teams that will include developers, project managers, application specialists, testers, systems analysts, business analysts and others.
  • Deliver per project timelines within large business projects· Apply changes to production systems in a planned and controlled fashion. Changes are tracked using ITIL style change management methodologies.
  • Deliver exceptional service and support-to-support Central's business goals.
  • On call support 24x7 for Systems team rotation. (1 week in 8, usually <3 calls)


Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in an enterprise IT environment.
  • Related post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Familiarity of systems operation in a sensitive production environment, including deployment planning and change management methodologies (such as ITIL).
  • Good time management and task prioritization ability.
  • Thorough knowledge of best practices in an open source and non-open source software context.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to help others understand systems that are new or complex to them.

Requisite Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008, 2012
  • SCCM (Imaging development and software deployment/upgrades)
  • Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Active Directory Federation Services, Microsoft Identity Manager, Single Sign on and Second factor technologies
  • MUST be proficient in PowerShell and other scripting languages (i.e. Python / Shell / WSH)
  • Active Directory exposure, including LDAP/Directory Services skills

Desired Skills:

  • ITIL 2 or 3 certification
  • MCSE or relevant experience
  • Understands the basics of Networking and firewalls, SSL / PKI, HTTP(s) protocol
  • SharePoint Administrator skills a plus
