Job Description

The Business Analyst - Risk is responsible for:
  • Creating business requirements and functional specifications including defining and mapping business processes, analysis and making recommendations for efficiencies;
  • Contributing to business cases;
  • Contributing to risk project plans while acting as liaison among the line(s) of business, control areas, technical and operational groups and the Risk Group;
  • Assessing project deliverables and deliveries against project specifications; and
  • Overseeing that business requirements for the project are met from initiation through to implementation of the project.

Specific Accountabilities:
  • Undertakes business analysis activities relating to Risk Group requirements or change requests for the development, modification or enhancement of moderately complex products and services.
  • Gathers information from Risk Group and other stakeholders, conducts research, and documents business needs and requirements and acts as liaison between technical, operational staff and clients in resolving planning and implementation issues.
  • Actively participates in searches to uncover issues, dependencies and risks and ensure that opportunities for improvement are positively identified and exploited.
  • Participates in finding options for potential solutions, evaluates the technical and business suitability of each option, and participates in assessing the priority, feasibility and impact of undertaking the project.
  • Understands the bigger picture through discussion with the client, re-documents and clarifies the requirements and presents to internal technical teams for discussion, solution identification and estimation. Effectively manages the Risk Group’s expectations in terms of overall solution, timing, cost and roll-out.
  • Contributes to business cases for modifications or enhancements, summarizing the costs, benefits, and measurable success criteria.
  • Participates in presenting proposals to management and/or clients and provides input to selecting the best options to meet business and technical needs.
  • Provides input to defining project parameters and prepares detailed specifications, use cases, workflows, and other supporting documentation for the development of modifications and enhancements.
  • Develops and documents data requirements, including data source mapping and data transformation processes and functions.
    Participates in preparing project plans, timeline and budget and communicates requirements to the technical team; ensures project deliverables meet stated requirements, are delivered to the required standard of quality.
  • Tracks and oversees business requirements during the project life cycle from analysis through to deployment, provides project updates as needed to clients and/or internal management.
  • Participates in developing a project implementation plan and oversees implementation, including quality assurance, testing and any modifications required
  • Writes information releases, prepares user manuals and provides information, training and support to clients and internal personnel with respect to new and enhanced products and services.
  • Provides follow-up and support to clients to ensure the successful operation of the newly implemented feature, product or service.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Central 1’s family of products, application functionality and the high level architecture of Central’s hosting environment.
  • Performs other duties as required to deliver exceptional service and to support Central’s business goals.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in computer science, business administration or other related discipline with a technology or financial services focus (or equivalent), and a minimum of 4 years’ experience working on projects through all stages of the project life-cycle in the role of Senior Business Analyst. 
  • Knowledge of risk management (operational risk, liquidity, risk, market risk, credit and counterparty risk, compliance). Knowledge of financial markets and regulatory oversight bodies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles, methodologies, tools and techniques with highly developed analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and document business and technical requirements and coordinate a variety of projects through to completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with clients, technical teams and other co-workers, work to schedules, and adapt easily to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Excellent customer service and client management skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines in a team environment.
