Job Description

FUJIFILM Cellular Dynamics, Inc is recruiting for undergraduate research assistants to work in our research and development, and bioinformatics facility in Madison, WI.  This role provides an outstanding opportunity for a dedicated and responsible individual to learn, develop, and contribute to maintaining and improving lab operations, along with supporting research and development projects.  And, as required, participate in cellular and molecular projects.  Ideal candidates will demonstrate a track record of self-motivation, strong organizational skills, and dedication to their work.  The role requires at least 10 hours per week of commitment with flexible scheduling, and with the ability to also work on weekends as required.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provide lab support for scientific personnel and overall operations.
  2. Complete required laboratory and safety training to enable working in a BSL2 environment.
  3. Coat Matrigel plates for R&D groups – consistent with demand requirements
  4. Change nitrogen tanks and update liquid nitrogen database.
  5. Fill humidity pans for incubators, make labels and aliquot reagents.
  6. Make media for growing and differentiating stem cells.
  7. Stock lab consumables and participate in lab cleaning activities to support lab operations.
  8.  Assist with daily lab duties with various assays with iPSC cells.
  9. Complete in iPSC tissue culture training to culture to include expanding and freezing iPSC cells.
  10. Participate in various ongoing projects within the assigned group(s).
  11. Other job functions as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, with relevant coursework progressing to a bachelor’s degree in biologic sciences, or related field
  • Flexibility to work a variable and assigned schedule to support research and development requirements
  • Fundamental knowledge and experience in lab techniques and operations
  • Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated and effective communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures
  • Ability to work on weekends, as required.
  • Must be able to work on-site Madison, WI.
