Job Description

FUJIFILM Cellular Dynamics, Inc in Madison, WI is recruiting for two Research Specialists to support our Immune Cell Therapy program. This position requires a self-motivated individual with experience in cell biology and molecular biology, who can contribute to our ongoing development efforts.  Qualified individuals need to be inspired to support the development of therapeutics and/or life science products and tools to support research endeavors .  We provide development and support to enhance your career using cutting edge iPSC technology.

In this critical role you will provide research and experimental support in the development, differentiation, and characterization of human pluripotent stem cells into various immune lineages for use in complex functional life science products, therapeutic
development and assays development. This role will have direct relevance for clinical application of immune cell therapy, as well as used to support customer research and development initiatives of customers. Daily workload includes wet lab benchwork, data analysis, and results reporting, including helping author supporting documentation. Though most work will be performed under R&D conditions, heavy interaction with Quality Control (QC) will also be required.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Work with project team to develop robust non- cGMP or cGMP-compatible differentiation, purification and characterization methods for human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell types.
  2. Design, execute, optimize and analyze experiments to achieve project goals within a given time constraint.
  3. Write protocols, technical reports, SOPs, and develop appropriate documentation for processes.
  4. Participate in technology transfer of processes to the Manufacturing and Quality Control groups.
  5. Effectively communicate experimental results to the project team.
  6. Other job functions as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in stem cell biology, cell biology, developmental biology, immunology, biomedical engineering or a closely related scientific field is required.
  • 2 years post-degree laboratory experience and/or industry experience with demonstrated achievements and progressive responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated capability with cell culture, flow cytometry, and/or molecular biology methods. Stem cell culture experience is extremely desirable.
  • Self-motivated with a sound work ethic, initiative, the ability to multi-task, intellectual curiosity and a desire to acquire new technical skills.
  • Flexibility to change project objectives quickly and enthusiastically.
  • Proficient in written and oral communication, as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Direct experience with flow cytometry assay development desired
  • Experience with immune cells desired
  • Some evening and/or weekend work is required.
  • Able to work with hazardous materials (i.e. chemicals, electrical equipment and human tissue) without endangering oneself or others
  •  Able to wear standard laboratory PPE
