Job Description

Cellular Dynamics International, a FujiFilm Company, is recruiting for a Research Specialist position. This position requires a self-motivated individual with experience in cell biology and molecular biology who can contribute to our ongoing efforts to generate differentiated cell types from human induced pluripotent stem cells.

Qualifications

Skills and Responsibilities:
•    Work with project team to develop robust culture, differentiation, purification and characterization methods for human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and iPSC-derived cell types.
•    Human induced pluripotent stem cell culture and expansion, including various media preparations.
•    Establish, execute, optimize and analyze high throughput molecular biology assays.
•    Characterize cell culture conditions by flow cytometry and imaging methods.
•    Design and execute on experimental plans to achieve project goals within a given time constraint.
•    Participate in technology transfer of processes and assays to the Manufacturing and Quality Control group.
•    Analyze experimental results timely.
•    Communicate experimental results to the project team through presentations and written reports.
•    Stay current on relevant literature and technology.
•    Document experiments conducted in lab notebooks.
•    Write CBS, SOPs, Manufacturing Protocols and Quality Control Protocols.

Essential Job Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in stem cell biology, cell biology, developmental biology, neurobiology, biomedical engineering or a closely related scientific field.
•    Hands-on laboratory experience outside of the classroom in an industry setting is desirable.
•    Experience with cell culture (stem cell culture is a plus), flow cytometry, imaging and molecular biology methods.
•    Applicants should possess a strong work ethic, initiative, the ability to multi-task, and a desire to acquire new technical skills.
•    Flexibility to change project objectives quickly and enthusiastically.
•    Applicants should have strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
•    Weekend work is required.

Physical Requirements:
•    Able to work in laboratory hood for extended periods of time.
•    Able to work with hazardous materials (i.e. chemicals, electrical equipment and human tissue) without endangering oneself or others.
•    Able to work at computer for extended periods of time.
•    Able to wear standard laboratory PPE.
