Our proprietary iCell Operating System (iCell O/S) includes true human cells in multiple cell types (iCell products), human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and custom iPSCs and iCell products (MyCell products).

Our iCell O/S products provide standardized, easy-to-use, cost-effective access to the human cell, the smallest fully functioning operating unit of human biology. Customers use our iCell O/S products, among other purposes, for drug discovery and screening; to test the safety and efficacy of their small molecule and biologic drug candidates; for stem cell banking; and in researching cellular therapeutics.

Job Description

Cellular Dynamics, a FujiFilm Company, is currently hiring for a Research Specialist, Application Development at our Madison, WI location. The Research Specialist, Application Development position will focus on developing end-point applications using commercialized iPSC-derived terminal cell types manufactured by CDI. This position will provide technical expertise within the Applications Team by developing, optimizing, and publishing both methods and results in the form of User Guides, Application Notes, scientific posters, or peer-reviewed journal articles. The ideal candidate would have expertise in electrophysiology using primary cells, engineered cancer cells, or iPSC-derived cells. Additionally, a successful candidate would demonstrate balance between independent work ethic, initiative, and creativity with the ability to play a role on an established team focused on execution and timely achievement of both team and company goals.

Qualifications

Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Develop and refine a wide range of end-point assays across multiple technology platforms to show the utility of iPSC-derived terminal cell types
2. Work closely with Application Development, R&D and Technical Product Management teams to gather customer feedback and requirements for the use of iPSC-derived cell types
3. Train both technical support and field applications scientist teams on product applications
4. Write customer facing application protocols detailing methods for customers to easily replicate assays or workflows developed at CDI
5. Contribute to iCertification training programs held at CDI as needed


Essential Job Requirements/Qualifications:
1. MS degree in biological science or related field, or a BS with 2 years of relevant post-graduate experience is required
2. A minimum of 2 year’s experience / knowledge of mammalian cell culture is required
3. Experience in electrophysiology and cell based assay development is preferred
4. Familiarity working with neuronal and/or cardiac tissue is preferred
5. Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills; along with excellent oral and written communication
6. Ability to work on a fast-paced collaborative team, and to adapt to a flexible work schedule
