The Senior Accountant will be essential to the success of the finance team. He/she will work closely with the Assistant Controller in executing the accounting functions. The Senior Accountant will contribute to the development and maintenance of processes, financial reporting, internal controls and SOPs. He/she will assist in training staff from all functional areas of the organization. The Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to work with leaders of Cellphire, gaining knowledge about clinical trials and the biotech industry.
Job Description
Oversee the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, cash, and month-end closing processes.
Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions in a timely manner.
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintains and balances accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents.
Process semi-monthly payroll and payroll compliance with provider.
Assists with external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information to auditors.
Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Manages billing process for government billing.
Review financial statements to make valuable insights about the company’s financial health
Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
Leverage your Deltek Costpoint software proficiency to optimize revenue generation process and ensure accuracy of the system.
Become independent with account/project coding in procurement software.
Ensure revenue is recorded according to ASC 606 and lease accounting to ASC 842
Update or create standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Supervisory Duties:
Support all finance team-members, no direct reports.
Qualifications:
Education: BA/BS degree in accounting or finance, MBA or advanced degree is a plus
Work qualifications: 5+ years of technical accounting experience in government contracting environment
License: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) a plus
Experience:
Proficient with Deltek Costpoint, Microsoft Excel, Office, Word, Teams, & SharePoint
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience in all areas of accounting including general ledger, cash, payroll, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable and US GAAP audits.
Familiarity with government project accounting principles and practices including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and government contract structure e.g. CPFF, FFP, T&M
Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
Demonstrates strong technical accounting skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and on simultaneous projects
Open to change; flexible and adaptable to the work environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Additional Information
Physical Demands: Should be able to sit at the desk or stand at a computer for prolonged periods. Also, will be required to lift boxes of files.
