Our Client is the world’s leading juvenile products retailer, offering a differentiated shopping experience through its family of brands. Merchandise is sold in 877 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, and in more than 685 international stores and over 170 licensed stores in 35 countries and jurisdictions.

They are about to open a European Import Centre near Rotterdam, the Netherlands. They have chosen a partner to handle the logistic operations. Currently they are building the internal team that will manage the relationships with internal and external stakeholders involved in the import process.

Job Description

The Import Manager has a crucial part in the set up of the European Import Centre (EIC).  He/she oversees the imported merchandise flow and the declarations process from Asia to the EIC in Rotterdam. He/She acts as an interface with legal and customs administrations for importation into Europe. The Import Manager will oversee internal resources that review and validate the import paperwork and information used for customs clearance by internal TRU resources and a 3rd Party Broker. Next to that, the Import Manager maintains the relationship with the local markets (UK, France, Germany, Spain and Poland) and external stakeholders, like the legal department of the carrier, European Customs Broker and European Customs, amongst others. 

Qualifications

  • University degree in Import or international trade 
  • Between 5 and 10 years relevant experience
  • Previous administration management experience
  • European Import laws and standards knowledge
  • Previous working experience in a retail import environment
  • Language level: fluent in English and another EU Language, preferably Dutch
  • Start-up mentality
