Commissioned by Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Victim First is a free and confidential service available to all victims and witnesses of crime across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The service supports victims and witnesses to be resilient and in doing so are less likely to be re-victimised; empowered to cope and recover from crime and anti-social behaviour by timely and effective victim-centred support from local services, families and communities.

Job Description

As a Specialist Caseworker, you will be the named and allocated worker providing ongoing trauma informed support to victims and witnesses, through telephone and face to face meetings. You will build and sustain high-quality relationships with victims (both adults, children and young people) through an offer of practical and emotional support that wins confidence and trust. You will inform, consult and empower victims to feel supported through the delivery of an agreed and tailored package of support that meets specific risks and needs. You will work collaboratively with a wide range of agencies to ensure that there is a robust referral pathway in place. 

You will be a passionate and experienced Caseworker who shows an understanding and commitment to the needs of victims and witnesses and how the Victim Service can effectively address the needs.

As a Specialist Caseworker, your main accountabilities will include:

  • To provide a service to victims and witnesses who have consent for ongoing support, as appropriate.
  • To manage a caseload of assigned victims and witnesses, which includes a caseload of children and young people cases, medium and high-risk cases.
  • To become the assigned, allocated and named Caseworker who will work progressively and consistently with each victim or witness.
  • To work as part of a Victim Service team to ensure the delivery of high-quality restorative justice, by providing information and explain the process and principles of restorative justice to identifiable victims of crime and offenders in the community and in custody.

Qualifications

As a Specialist Caseworker, you will deliver a specialist enhanced service to victims of crime. You will build and sustain high-quality relationships with all victims through an offer of support that wins confidence and trust. You will support the team to develop their skills and knowledge to support adults, children and young people through coaching and working on cases together. You will work collaboratively with a wide range of agencies to ensure that there is a robust referral pathway in place.

Additional Information

Salary: £27,500 per annum
Hours: 37.5hrs per week

Fixed Term Until End of January 2025, with opportunity to be extended. 

Caseworkers will need to be available to work between 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. 

This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check and Enhanced Police Vetting.
