Job Description

We are looking for a programme coordinator who is passionate and experienced in working with young people in a community-based setting. You will have have the ability to manage a small team of sessional sports coaches impactfully and have the ability to facilitate and lead community sports activity. 

Good communication, written and verbal, is essential as well as experience with working in partnership with multiple agencies and commissioners. You will need to have a flexible approach to working hours with regular evening activities and travel to other parts of the county essential. 

As a programme coordinator for Suffolk Positive Futures you will 

  • Contribute towards the planning, preparation and particularly the delivery of sports opportunities to young people attending the Positive Futures project across the county
  • Implement and maintain a system of recording, collating and interpreting data to ensure completion of monitoring returns, providing information for management and partner agencies.
  • Assist and support the manager to maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders, funders and partners.  
  • Manage a small team of sessional sports coaches and volunteers. Including allocation of working hours and assessing their training, development and support needs
  • Contribute towards fundraising e.g applying for funding grants / compiling funding applications

Access to a car and having a full driving license is a requirement of this role

Qualifications

Essential

Post holder must have sports coaching certificate

  • Substantial experience of working with young people in a community setting.
  • Experience of managing and development of staff / sessional staff and volunteers.
  • Experience of working on his/her own initiative to an agreed action plan.
  • Experience of incorporating an equal opportunities perspective  in all areas of work.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a distance management structure.
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment.
  • Experience of monitoring budgets
  • Experience of successful fundraising e.g applying for funding grants / compiling funding applications

Additional Information

  • Location: Lowestoft
  • Salary:  £28,000 (National)
  • Contract: Permanent, 37hrs per week
  • Managed by: Suffolk Positive Futures Project Manager
  • Role is subject to a DBS check
  • Flexibility: The role allows for flexible working with an office base in Lowestoft plus home working opportunities available. 
  • Closing date for applications: Monday 12th August, Interviews will commence in September. 
  • Benefits: 28 days annual leave + bank holidays, rising to 33 days with service + Pension scheme with matching contributions of up to 4%
