Job Description

Join us as a Teaching Assistant in our Ipswich school and you will be playing a key role in providing an invaluable programme of education for vulnerable students with challenging behaviours.

You will provide support for our pupils, ensuring that the education provided is of high quality and that students are supported, motivated and challenged.

Your main duties will be to:

  • Engage in interventions both in and out of lessons to foster effective participation of students in the social, behaviour and academic processes of the school.
  • Work with the team to implement behaviour management strategies and develop relationships with students who may be vulnerable and have complex needs.
  • Liaise with other agencies to ensure that student needs are fully met.
  • Support the teacher in the delivery of engaging and successful lessons.

Qualifications

Level 2 English and Maths.

Knowledge of the statutory requirements of equal opportunities, discrimination, health and safety, SEN & safeguarding of children.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • High expectations of students’ behaviour.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage children appropriately.
  • Capability to work independently, supported by the teacher, with groups of or individual students.
  • Understanding of how to work with challenging students, understanding their needs and demonstrating effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience of teaching children with EAL, SEN, speech and languages difficulties or other complex needs.

Additional Information

  • Contract: 37 hours (8.30am-4pm) 39 weeks of the year pro-rata ( including 5 days of training outside of term time)
  • Salary: £18,000 FTE (£15,270.47 pro-rata)
  • Start Date: 24.02.2020
