Company Description

The Catch22 Multi Academies Trust is the vehicle for our sponsorship of an expanding number of academies focusing on learners who can benefit from small, supportive alternative education provision.

The Coppice Spring Academy is a social, emotional and mental health school which offers full time education and therapeutic support to 70 children aged 11 to 16 years old. Pupils will be referred to the school by the local authority as part of their duties to arrange SEN provision. 

Job Description

The Coppice Spring Academy is looking for an English Teacher to cover a maternity absence. You will work in our provision teaching students who have emotional and behavioural difficulties, in small groups. The work is intensive requiring flexibility, sensitivity, patience and resilience. The ability to work with and engage all students with creativity and passion towards the subject is essential.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and co-ordinating the development of your subject(s) area. 
  • Planning, producing and updating schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation requirements.
  • Preparing and delivering lessons/learning activities to individuals and groups of learners.
  • Supporting and guiding learners so that they can reflect on their learning, identify the progress they have made and set positive targets for improvement.
  • Maintaining good order and discipline among the students, safeguarding their wellbeing.

Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status or NQT

Other relevant Degree Level Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience of working with our cohort of young people including those with complex behaviour and additional learning needs.
  • Extensive behaviour management experience with students who have complex needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Relevant classroom teaching experience.

Knowledge

  • A clear understanding of the National Curriculum and its application.
  • A robust knowledge of behavioural techniques and theories and their application.
  • A secure knowledge and understanding of subject(s)/curriculum area(s) and related pedagogy.

Salary: MPR1 - MPR12 (£24,371 - £35,617) or UQT1 - UQT12

A TLR is available for the right candidate

Contract: Full time - 12 Months fixed term. Further recruitment opportunities within the MAT in Basingstoke will be available
