Catch22 Include schools helps vulnerable young people with challenging behaviours to realise their full potential. With extensive experience of delivering services to children and young people who have experienced difficulties in mainstream schools and whose education has irretrievably broken down, we support learners to achieve academic and vocational targets and progress into education, training and employment. 

Our Oxford Include school is situated on the Blackbird Leys Estate which is in an area of socio-economic deprivation. We currently have 15 full-time students on roll; many of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan. In addition, a high number of students are either on the Child Protection register or are a Child in Need (CIN).

Job Description

Do you have expertise in working with young people with complex needs and behavioural difficulties? Do you believe that all young people have the capacity to learn, regardless of their life situation? Do you want to be a part of a team that is leading the way in Oxford, by changing the futures of excluded and marginalised young people?

You’ll have a key part to play in the school’s success. Working closely with the Headteacher and teaching staff, you’ll assess each pupil’s educational, emotional and behavioural needs, and then devise tailored support programmes to meet them.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be:

  • Leading and providing duty support for staff and students within the school
  • Recording data for behaviour including physical interventions / exclusions / duty calls
  • Supporting staff in developing personalised strategies for individual students as necessary
  • Working with colleagues to design, implement and review individual development plans for the school’s students 
  • Organising and delivering 1:1 and small group targeted support, advice, guidance, practical help and mentoring for learners as appropriate to their needs and context

Qualifications

  • A relevant professional qualification (NVQ level 2) in working with young people, e.g. teaching, youth and community work, social work, counselling, mentoring.    
  • Level 2 English and Maths. 

You will have Experience of:

  • Working with complex young people and families who have social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. Including those who are from a variety of ethnic groups and cultures or who may be vulnerable or disadvantaged in some way. 
  • Assessing family situations and needs to develop and implement effective strategies, risk assessments and individual educational/learning support plans. 
  • Working with a range of issues affecting young people and their families, such as substance misuse, domestic violence, multiple exclusions, offending behaviour .  
  • Managing complex cases ranging from level 2-4 on the continuum of need.#

You will need to have a track record of assessing a range of complex family situations and putting effective strategies in place. You’ll need a proven understanding of social inclusion, behavioural management techniques and influences on children and young people.

Additional Information

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £20,118.70 - £27,000 per annum (dependant on experience)

Due to the nature of this role, access to a personal vehicle is essential.
