CastAlum is an internationally acclaimed aluminium die casting and machining centre located in Welshpool, UK. The site was a Greenfield development in the winter of 2000-2001, serving one customer only.

20 years on, the company supplies parts to the UK, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. We have grown from die casting aluminium parts only to supplying a range of products (using high pressure die casting, squeeze die casting, and machining). We can supply aluminium components as cast, cast & machined, or assembled & tested according to the needs of our customers.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager who is looking for a fresh challenge in their career, with a role which can make a positive difference.

Fast-paced automotive supplier is seeking a Quality Manager with an automotive background for their manufacturing facility. The successful applicant will be responsible for motivating, training, and leading their staff; resolving customer and supplier quality issues; completing quality reports; maintaining and improving the quality management system; managing all quality assurance activities and giving regular quality presentations.

Requirements for the position -

  • HNC or Engineering apprenticeship trained.
  • At least five years of similar quality management experience
  • Automotive supplier experience
  • Root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Strong customer communication experience, developing quality agreements, needs to be authoritarian with respect to decision making on customer affected quality issues. Customer/Supplier site visits when required.
  • Prepared to be “hands on”

Qualifications

Skills required,

  • IATF 16949 Quality management systems, customer audits and development of improvement plans using highlighted processes. (APQP, PPAP, PSW, 5 WHYS, 8D and lean improvement tools.)
  • Good working knowledge of geometric, dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to assist in decision making to provide leadership & technical support using results from the Coordinate measuring machine and scanner.
  • Metallurgical knowledge
  • Microsoft Office, Excel, Customer portals.
  • Environmental ISO14001 experience.
  • Ideally cast aluminium or machining experience
