Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a Social Media Specialist to own and grow our social media strategy, content, and community engagement across Mudah, Carousell, and key business verticals. This role is responsible for developing insight-led social strategies, translating business and campaign priorities into platform-specific content, driving livestream initiatives, and building engaged communities through data-driven content and social best practices. 

You will work closely with Brand, Campaigns, Business, Product, and external partners to strengthen brand awareness, engagement, and consideration across multiple brands, customer segments, and audience communities.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys combining creativity, platform expertise, data, and cultural trends to build engaging social experiences that deliver measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Social Strategy & Content Planning

  • Develop and manage social media strategies and content calendars across Mudah, Carousell, Auto, Property, and key business priorities
  • Translate campaign objectives, audience insights, and business priorities into platform-specific content strategies and creative recommendations
  • Recommend content pillars, storytelling approaches, publishing cadence, and content formats based on audience behaviour, platform trends, and performance insights
  • Identify opportunities for integrated and dual-brand social initiatives that strengthen overall brand and business impact
  • Ensure consistency of brand messaging, tone of voice, and creative execution across all social platforms

Content Development & Livestream

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute social media content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms
  • Lead livestream planning and execution, including content planning, scripting, coordination, hosting, and post-live evaluation
  • Appear on camera where required for brand content, livestreams, product showcases, educational content, and campaign activations
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, creators, agencies, freelancers, and production partners to deliver high-quality social content
  • Recommend new content series, creator collaborations, and platform features that strengthen audience engagement

Community & Social Engagement

  • Manage community engagement across all social platforms through timely, relevant, and on-brand interactions
  • Develop response frameworks and escalation guidelines for customer enquiries and sensitive issues
  • Monitor audience conversations, community sentiment, and emerging topics to identify opportunities and potential risks
  • Surface audience insights and recommendations that improve customer experience, content quality, and future campaigns

Performance, Reporting & Insights

  • Monitor social media performance across content, campaigns, livestreams, and community engagement
  • Track platform performance, audience growth, engagement, video performance, sentiment, and other key social metrics
  • Translate performance data into actionable recommendations that improve content strategy, platform performance, and campaign effectiveness
  • Recommend experimentation opportunities, new content initiatives, and platform best practices based on audience behaviour and performance insights
  • Produce structured reporting and insights to support monthly business reviews and future planning

Campaign Execution & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Support integrated marketing campaigns through social media strategy, content development, publishing, and campaign amplification
  • Coordinate with Brand, Campaigns, Product, Growth, agencies, creators, and external partners to deliver campaigns on time and to a high standard
  • Support influencer, creator, and partnership initiatives including briefing, coordination, content review, and performance tracking
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve social workflows, planning processes, and execution quality

Qualifications

Experience

  • 3–5 years in Social Media, Brand Marketing, Content Marketing or Integrated Marketing — preferably within a digital-first, marketplace, or tech business
  • Experience developing and managing social media strategies across multiple platforms
  • Experience managing content across multiple brands, business units, customer segments, or campaign priorities
  • Experience planning and executing livestreams, creator collaborations, or social-first campaigns
  • Experience coordinating with agencies, freelancers, creators, or external partners

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of social media strategy, platform best practices, content planning, and audience engagement
  • Strong knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging social platforms
  • Experience using social listening, monitoring, and reporting tools (Brandwatch, Meltwater, or equivalent)
  • Experience analysing social performance and translating insights into content recommendations
  • Strong written communication in both English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Comfortable appearing on camera for livestreams and brand content where required

 

Competencies

  • Strong strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates strong ownership and initiative, with the ability to independently manage projects and recommend ideas with minimal guidance
  • Uses audience insights, platform trends, and performance data to continuously improve content and engagement

  • Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple brands, campaigns, platforms, and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail, execution quality, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced

Additional Information

  • Experience in marketplace, classifieds, automotive, property, e-commerce, fintech, or technology businesses
  • Experience managing multiple brands, customer segments, or business categories
  • Basic video editing skills using CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with AI tools for content development, planning, reporting, or productivity
