Job Description

About the Role
As Carousell Group scales across Southeast Asia, we are building a finance function that operates at the
speed of the business - not behind it. The Assistant Financial Controller is a pivotal role in this
transformation, evolving from a traditional accounting focus into a forward-looking AI-augmented finance
partner. You will own the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting while simultaneously leading the
automation and redesign of the workflows that produce it. This is a role for a finance professional who
wants to move beyond month-end closes and spreadsheet models, and into the territory of real-time
business intelligence, intelligent process automation and AI-assisted strategic partnering. If you are
energised by the idea of making finance a competitive advantage - not just a compliance function - this is
where you build that future.

What You Will Do

  • Own and continuously improve the revenue recognition process, leveraging AI tools to automate journal entries, flag exceptions and maintain audit-ready documentation
  • Drive the design and implementation of automated close workflows, targeting significant reductions in cycle time and manual effort
  • Build and maintain real-time P&L dashboards in collaboration with data and engineering teams, replacing periodic reporting with live business intelligence
  • Act as a strategic finance partner to business unit leaders, using AI-generated insights and scenario models to contribute to pricing, headcount and market decisions
  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of AI-powered forecasting tools, improving forecast accuracy and extending the planning horizon across the group
  • Partner with product, data and operations teams to ensure financial data pipelines are clean, structured, and available for consumption by other AI systems across the business
  • Document and champion new AI-first finance processes, building internal capability and creating reference materials for the wider group
  • Identify and prioritise automation opportunities across finance workflows, building the business case for investment and tracking realised productivity gains

Qualifications

What You Will Need

  • 3–5 years of experience in finance, accounting or financial analysis, ideally in a high-growth or technology company
  • Strong grounding in accounting principles including P&L management, revenue recognition and financial controls
  • Demonstrated experience using automation, data tools, or AI applications to improve finance processes - not just a willingness to learn, but evidence of doing
  • Proficiency with financial planning and reporting tools; familiarity with SQL or data querying is a strong plus
  • Commercial instinct and the ability to translate numbers into business insights that non-finance stakeholders can act on
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills - you will partner regularly with product, data, engineering and leadership teams
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to build new processes where none exist
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA) or equivalent analytical background is advantageous

Additional Information

New Skills You Will Gain
Through this role's AI transformation journey, you will develop proficiency in:

  • ML Powered Forecasting Tools
  • AI Exception Management
  • Cross-Pillar ROI Analytics
  • Finance Data Pipeline Management
