About the role

AI is reshaping how designers work, and Carousell’s Product Design team is actively exploring this new frontier. This internship puts you right in the middle of that journey.

We’re looking for a Product Design Intern – Design Tech (Special Projects) who is curious about both design and technology. Unlike a traditional design internship, this role focuses on building tools (like AI-powered Figma plugins, design ops utilities, and workflow automations) that make our design process smarter and more efficient.

As part of the team, you’ll ship real tools, see them adopted by our designers (your users), and get immediate feedback. Along the way, you’ll learn how a design team in a fast-moving tech company works, while contributing your own experiments and ideas to shape the future of design practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn and understand how the Product Design team works across discovery, prototyping, testing, and delivery

• Identify opportunities where internal tools can improve the design process

• Experiment with building tools such as Figma plugins, scripts, or AI-powered workflows

• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to prototype and test solutions

• Document learnings and share best practices with the team

*This is a full-time, 6-month internship starting January 2026.

• Currently pursuing a degree in Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or related fields

• Comfortable experimenting with code (e.g., JavaScript, Figma plugin API, AI frameworks)

• Interest in design tools, systems, and operations—experience with Figma is a plus

• Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity for how technology can enhance creativity

• Good communication skills to work across design and engineering

• A Carousell account—because knowing the product will be an advantage

• Available to commit to full-time work for 6 months
