Job Description
The Project Officer role entails:
- Project Implementation
- Lead the setup and rehabilitation of community nutrition gardens and fishponds
- Coordinate training in organic farming, fish farming, and pond management
- Supervise distribution of aquaculture starter kits and ensure proper usage
- Capacity Building & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with AGRITEX, fisheries experts, and health workers to deliver technical support
- Mobilize and strengthen community committees for sustainability
- Promote gender-sensitive and youth-inclusive participation
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Collect and analyse data on training, production, and adoption of practices
- Prepare timely reports and document success stories and lessons learned
- Coordination & Partnerships
- Liaise with government departments, private sector actors, and other stakeholders
- Facilitate market linkages and value chain development for vegetables and fish
- Represent the project in district-level coordination platforms
Qualifications
- A degree in Agriculture, Nutrition, Aquaculture, Rural Development, or related field
- 3–5 years of field experience in agriculture, aquaculture, or community development
- Practical skills in organic farming, irrigation, or aquaculture are an asset
- Strong understanding of climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive agriculture
- Proven experience in community mobilization and capacity building
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and report writing skills
